چکیده

Infection with Paryphostomum sufrartyjex (synonyms : Artyfechinostomum surfrartyfex; Euparyphium malayanum; Eclmiostoma sujrartyfcx) is extremely rare in human beings and to our knowledge this is the first case recorded in South India. The first report of human infection with this worm was reported by Lane in 1915. Bhalerao, in 1931, recovered this fluke from a pig in Bengal and worked out its morphology. An ill-nourished and anaemic Hindu boy, aged 15, was admitted into the General Hospital, Madras, on 18th May, 1950, with a history of diarrhoea and an irregular temperature for two months. Clinical examination revealed no abnormalities.

This intestinal fluke is seldom encountered, and this is the first report of high prevalence of infection (36%) in humans by H. taichui in the Philippines. The likely source of haplorchine infection has been linked to consumption of raw or unde...

Ion transport in the colon of rats experimentally infected with liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica).

The effect of liver fluke infection (Fasciola hepatica) on ion transport in the rat proximal colon was evaluated with electrophysiological methods using an Ussing apparatus. Rats were orally infected with F. hepatica metacercariae. The experimental groups of rats at 4 weeks post-infection (wpi) were in the acute stage of fasciolosis, while those at 7, 10 and 13 wpi represented the chronic phase...
